Local Job

Community Development Officer

Are you passionate about inspiring people to make the most of themselves? Do you have the skills to make a lasting difference for the many not just a few?

The Paddington Development Trust (PDT), is recruiting to a Community Development Post based in Queen’s Park. The successful applicant will have relevant professional work experience or educated to degree level in a relevant field.

The role requires awareness and sensitivity to issues affecting residents of deprived and diverse inner-city neighbourhoods. It will involve outreach work to engage residents and to inspire and empower local people to work for a happier and healthier future for themselves, their family and the whole community.

Enthusiastic, sociable and a good listener you are able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people. You are a natural problem solver, able to draw from memory on an acquired knowledge of existing support services into which to refer individual caseloads.

You posses a dogged determination to succeed, and the ability to motivate yourself with minimum supervision. You value attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture, and are able to keep a sense of humour and of proportion at all times. Interested?

 Deadline for receipt of applications is 25th July ’07
 Interviews with short-listed candidates will be held w/b 30th July
 £24, 000 - £27,000 - initial one year contract

If you have what it takes, please send your CV and a personal statement detailing how you meet the person specification above. Send to michelene@pdt.org.uk or Queen’s Park Forum, Office 1, Beethoven Centre, Third Avenue, London W10 4JL.
